CVN and Counter? With Alientech it is no longer a problem!

Just a week after the release of the latest update, we present to your attention an indispensable innovation for chip tuning BMW and Mini.

We decided one of the most important problems — the problem of CVN and a Counter.

"CVN” ("Calibration Verification Number") is the checksum of the calibration file recorded inside the control unit. CVN control-the method by which the calibration in the control unit is checked to see if it matches the one chosen by the vehicle manufacturer. Thanks to the new protocols 628 and 629 For the kessv2 tool, when writing a modified file, CVN will match the original firmware ECU.

“Counter” is the counter programming of control units, Bosch EDC17 and MED17. It indicates the number of modifications the ECU has been subjected to. In this case, due to protocols 628 and 629, this programming counter will not be increased.

The CVN and Counter will be displayed in the Protocol ID in the software version field.

With this update you can work on the control UNIT BMW F-series, through the diagnostic connector OBD, both diesel and petrol versions.

No need to open the unit! You need a tool with KESSv2 OBD standard cable to intervene in the tuning of BMW and Mini, which are equipped with the following ECU's:

Diesel

  • Bosch EDC17CP09 TC1796 DDE73a
  • Bosch EDC17C41 TC1797 DDE721b
  • Bosch EDC17C41 TC1797 DDE721a
  • Bosch EDC17CP45 TC1797 DDE731a
  • Bosch EDC17CP49 TC1797 DDE751a
  • Bosch EDC17C50 TC1797 DDE701a

  • Bosch EDC17C56 TC1797 DDE741a
  • Bosch EDC17C56 TC1797 DDE741P

Petrol

  • Bosch MEVD17.2 TC1797
  • Bosch MEVD17.2.4 TC1797
  • Bosch MEVD17.2.5 TC1797
  • Bosch MEVD17.2.6 TC1797
  • Bosch MEVD17.2.9 TC1797

  • Bosch MEVD17.2.P TC1797

If you already have A kessv2 tool, then you don't need to buy anything extra!  It is enough to connect your tool, read the ECU ID and, thanks to the virtual reading function (OBD Virtual Reading*), you will receive the necessary original ECU file. The functionality of a virtual reading has never been so effective! In fact, the company Alientech has at its disposal 16.000 original files for BMW.

With the new protocols 628 and 629, it will be possible to read the ID, write, perform the recovery procedure and access the tool menu. In addition, through a menu TOOL, it will be possible to implement manually backup and restore file CAFD (or CAFD CAF-Datei – file which includes the configuration of the ECU). However, this procedure is performed automatically by the Protocol itself during the write procedure.

The new protocols developed in cooperation with Chiptuner include the following functions:

Automatic detection of modified file. The Protocol shall unlock the ECU via the OBD to pass away to the programming of the modified file.

The only update to the latest versions. If the ECU has been modified earlier and new changes need to be made, then the Protocol will record these latter. So programming will be much faster as it will run only a partial recording of a certain area of the map.

Automatic correction of the checksum. The file downloaded through the virtual reading is compatible with any of the calibration software and does not require special operations to correct the checksum. Checksum automatically adjusts the KESSv2.

File compatibility. In the case when the original file is missing from the virtual reading database using the K-TAG tool, it is possible to read the original ECU file and write it with the kessv2 tool.

Recognition of the original file record.  After overwriting the original file, the Protocol will recognize it and return the control unit to the factory settings, leaving no traces of previously made changes.
